The Tech Museum of Innovation in San Jose hosted a Children Discovery Day on Saturday April 25th. Special exhibits were displayed from many local interest groups pertaining to various sciences. Hundreds of children and their teachers attended the event. SSRG presented the Silichip Project by displaying ideas in new technologies, Interactive computers and displays. Among the displays was a working demonstration of an incubation tank that is being donated by the United Anglers. SSRG demonstrated an interactive computer Bio-Science program called "The Salmon Adventure" that is being developed for this website. We also premiered "A Virtual Boat Ride on the Guadalupe". This animated boat ride starts at the bay and ends up at the Guadalupe headwaters. We officially introduced "Chip" our mascot in a new interactive display "The Redd". The children had a great time and learned about the Salmon that lives in their own backyards. Both teachers and students were surprised that Salmon and Trout call the Guadalupe home. Many left with a new impression of the Guadalupe river and it's wildlife. It's these small steps that promote Restoration through Education. |
