About SSRG
The Salmon and Steelhead Restoration Group has formed to educate the Citizens of San Jose, California and the San Francisco South Bay communities. We believe that through education of the resources in the Guadalupe and it's tributaries, local citizens will unite to protect the abundant wildlife that it contains. The resources of the Guadalupe are important to San Francisco Bay, the South Bay Area and Estuary. The environmental health of this area is dependent on the Bay and it's Rivers and Streams. These have been greatly ignored until recently, where cities such as Oakland have reconstructed their waterways to be more environmentally friendly. Working with local commercial and environmental groups such as, United Anglers, Pacific Coast Fisherman and Fisheries Association, Flycasters, Trout Unlimited, Guadalupe-Coyote Resource Conservation District, Teachers, Students, Children Discovery Museum and the help of local Television, Radio, and Newspapers we have brought the message to the local communities, the Santa Clara Valley Water District, and The Army Corps of Engineers. Here in the Heart of Silicon Valley, we hope to promote the idea that High Technologies can help the environment and will benefit from it's resources. Many great cities are identified with their rivers and waterways. Some Rivers have sprung great civilizations. While our Guadalupe may not be the Nile or Mississippi, it does reflect our concerns with our local environment and how we respect it's importance to our community. We have adopted the Chinook Salmon that are migrating in the Guadalupe as
our mascot. Our Emblem, Thank you for taking the first step toward saving the Guadalupe by viewing this Web Site.
